If you have a medical condition, disability, or mental health issue that affects your housing needs, you may be eligible for priority assessment.
Who May Be Eligible
You may qualify for priority housing if your current housing:
- Is making your medical condition worse
- Is inaccessible due to mobility issues
- Is too far from essential medical treatment
- Negatively impacts your mental health
Medical Assessment Form
You'll need to complete this form with your healthcare professional to provide evidence of your medical needs.
If you receive Disability Support Pension, you don't need additional proof of disability - just evidence that your current housing is inappropriate.
Trauma Survivors
If you've experienced torture, trauma, or institutional abuse:

Medical assessments from STARTTS are automatically accepted as evidence - no additional documentation required.

Survivors of institutional child sexual abuse with a successful Redress claim or civil compensation can use this as evidence.
Mental Health Conditions
Mental health conditions including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric conditions can qualify for priority housing if your current housing negatively impacts your condition.
A letter from your treating psychiatrist or psychologist explaining how your housing affects your condition is accepted as evidence.
